Bolivias president Evo Morales anser att vi för att rädda planeten och mänskligheten måste skrota kapitalismen (läs om detta på BBC News) . Kapitalisttänket är nämligen huvudorsaken till klimatförändringarna och ”ansamlingen av skräp” världen över. Presidentet Evo moraliserar även över biobränslen som enligt honom driver bara fattigdom och hunger (i det här fallet håller jag med honom).
Bolivias president må ondgöra sig över kapitalismen, men faktum är att han har alldeles fel. För två år sedan publicerade nämligen Heartland Institute en rapport i vilken sades bl.a. följande:
”Contrary to the slogans of demonstrators throughout the world, the nations that have the best track records on environmental protection and improvement are those with the highest amount of free-market capitalism. Nations with the freest economic systems are the ones whose citizens can afford the luxury of protecting their environments. Conversely, persons living in command-and-control economies barely surviving on life’s necessities of food, clothing, and shelter use their natural resources to the absolute limit.”
